Climate Under Pressure

climate under pressure month banner

19 December to 19 January is ‘Climate Under Pressure Month’ in Queensland.  It’s time to check your car’s tyre pressure to make sure they are correctly inflated.

There are over 2, 220,000 passenger vehicle’s registered in Queensland and each one contributes to the state’s greenhouse gas emissions.

To make it even easier to check your car tyre pressures, FREE tyre pressure kits are available at Tyrepower, Bunnings Warehouse, RACQ and MTAQ outlets across Queensland.

The EPA thanks these major supporters of Climate Under Pressure Month in helping reduce greenhouse gas emissions and improving safety on our roads.

Under-inflated tyres increase fuel consumption, which generates more greenhouse gas. Simply by checking your car’s tyre pressures every month, you can help reduce emissions and save money.

Not all tyres are the same, different tyres have different pressure recommendations .

By inflating your car’s tyres to manufacturer’s specifications, you will improve driving safety and decrease wear of your tyres. Under-inflation reduces your vehicles braking and handling capabilities, and can ultimately lead to serious tyre failure.

It’s easy to maintain correct tyre pressure. Just look in your owner’s manual or check the tyre placard (usually found in the glove box, driver’s door frame, boot, under the bonnet or inside the fuel cap cover) to find the recommended pressure for your tyres. If unsure, ask your local tyre dealer.

This holiday season, stay safe and make sure you check your tyre pressure.  You’ll save money and help save our environment.

Pledge today to begin regular checks of your tyre pressure during Climate Under Pressure Month.
