In Queensland, climate change will bring warmer temperatures, rising sea levels, changes in rainfall patterns and more intense storms and tropical cyclones. These impacts will challenge Queensland's economy, communities and natural environment.
Despite the myths surrounding climate change, and continuing debate as to its causes, the reality is that we need to focus on ways to live sustainably on energy efficiency, water conservation, waste minimisation and other environmental issues that begin at home.
The ClimateSmart Living campaign will promote ways to live sustainably. ClimateSmart Living is all about providing Queenslanders with the information we need to take simple actions to help address climate change, reduce our impact on the planet's resources, and how to be part of a statewide campaign to ensure that our lifestyle survives in a changing climate.
After all, we all want to protect Queensland's iconic and beautiful Great Barrier Reef, yet our actions are already causing it harm. With even a 2°C rise in ocean temperature likely to bleach its exquisite colours forever, now is the time for us to act.
